Supporting Land of Hope: A Beacon of Hope and Protection for Vulnerable Children
At Jo's Dreamland, we believe that every child deserves love, safety, and the chance to build a bright future. That’s why we are proud to support Land of Hope, a remarkable non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing children who have been victims of superstition, discrimination, and violence in Nigeria’s Niger Delta region.
Land of Hope is an independent organization that operates without political, religious, or economic interests. Since its founding, Land of Hope has established West Africa’s largest Children’s Center - a safe haven spanning over 30,000 square meters - where 94 children, often accused of witchcraft and made scapegoats for their families’ hardships, find refuge, protection, and hope.
Behind guarded walls and armed guards, these children are given the care they need to heal. They eat nutritious meals, attend school, participate in sports, and receive medical treatment - all in a colourful environment decorated with words like “Hope” and “Love Lives Here.” The centre is a place where children can be children again, sharing rooms, playing football, learning music, and developing talents - all while processing traumatic experiences with the help of dedicated staff.
Land of Hope is more than just a sanctuary; it’s a movement against superstitions that lead to exclusion, torture, and death of innocent children. It’s a place where patience and compassion are slowly but surely creating a safer, more hopeful future. The organization also actively supports the surrounding community through farming projects, healthcare services, and educational efforts - striving to change deep-rooted beliefs and foster a culture of acceptance and care.
Founded from a heartbreaking moment when Anja Lovén, the organization’s founder, encountered a “witch child,” Land of Hope is fuelled by hope, passion, and a relentless belief that everyone can make a difference. Every small step, every child saved, brings us closer to a world where no child is judged by superstition but is loved for who they are.
